Description
The media award "Prevention in Pregnancy" of the Foundation for Disabled Children annually honors outstanding journalistic works that raise awareness for targeted prevention, early detection, and early treatment of childhood disabilities during pregnancy. With a prize of €3,000, the award promotes innovative and high-quality contributions in print, online, TV, and radio media, thereby contributing to widespread health education. Since its establishment in 2011, outstanding publications have been recognized that present complex medical topics in an understandable manner and inform both families and professional audiences alike.
Eligible to participate are journalists and media professionals with independent publications in German-language media between February 1, 2025, and January 31, 2026. A minimum length of 5,000 characters for print and online media or three broadcast minutes for audiovisual formats is required. The jury evaluates submitted works based on their level of innovation, professional relevance for the prevention of childhood disabilities, and broad impact. Submissions must include the contribution in digital or postal form as well as a brief CV of the authors. The deadline for submissions for the 2026 media award is March 31, 2026. Participation creates an important platform to sustainably bring the significance of early medical interventions during pregnancy into the focus of public debate.
