Description

The dairy cow alpine grazing premium supports agricultural enterprises in Tyrol in traditional alpine pasture management and rewards each milk cow grazed on alpine pastures with a subsidy of €100. This funding compensates for lower milk yields and additional labor on mountain pastures, contributes to the reduction of ammonia and greenhouse gas emissions, and sustainably strengthens animal health. At the same time, it helps preserve alpine pastures as attractive recreational areas and provides high-quality alpine milk as the basis for regional specialty products. With a total budget of €16 million, anchored in the Tyrolean Agricultural Act (§ 9 LGBL. No. 3/1975) and within the framework of the Special Compensation Allowance Directive (file number 2023-0.547.939), the State of Tyrol promotes an ecological and economic strengthening of alpine farming as well as the biodiversity of mountain regions.

The premium is aimed at agricultural enterprises that, within the framework of the Special Compensation Allowance Directive, graze dairy cows on alpine pastures and comply with the regulations for disadvantaged areas. A separate application is not required, as the dairy cow alpine grazing premium can be applied for in conjunction with the compensation allowance until December 31, 2027. Proof is provided by the alpine/common pasture turnout list and the alpine/pasture notification. The only document to be submitted is the regular funding application for the compensation allowance. Payment is made via Agrarmarkt Austria after processing by the Office of the Tyrolean State Government. This offer provides a valuable opportunity to combine ecological responsibility and economic stability in Tyrolean alpine farming.
