Description
The Free State of Saxony supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as municipal institutions and non-profit associations with a grant for the introduction, validation, and certification of environmental management systems and energy audits. Funding is provided for consulting services, workshops, and audits that promote the careful and effective use of natural resources. The goal is to reduce costs through targeted measures, minimize operational risks, and sustainably strengthen competitiveness. Group projects involving several SMEs, chambers, municipalities, or other non-commercial organizations can also jointly implement and further develop environmental management approaches.
Applications can be submitted to the Saxon Development Bank – Förderbank (SAB) at any time before the start of the project and have a maximum project duration of 36 months. The funding rate amounts to 40% to 50% of eligible expenses, depending on the procedure. Up to €8,000 per calendar year is eligible for the validation and certification of management systems, up to €12,000 for consulting services within three years, and up to €30,000 for group projects. Among other requirements, a consulting scope of at least five working days and independent validation or certification are necessary. Due to the continuously open application process, this funding instrument offers flexible options for SMEs in Saxony to establish ecological standards and realize long-term cost-benefit potentials.
