Mobility for People with Disabilities

The funding initiative "Mobility for People with Disabilities" of the Fonds Soziales Wien (FSW) supports private individuals in Vienna with physical, intellectual, psychological, or sensory impairments who rely on barrier-free access to day structures, care facilities, and support services. The goal is to enable largely self-determined mobility: public transportation, ride services, accompaniment, mileage allowance, and mobility concepts are covered 100%. The reasonableness of using public transportation serves as a fundamental evaluation criterion – if its use is not possible, the FSW organizes regular or special transport services including appropriately trained companions. Within the framework of mobility concepts, participants additionally receive individual travel training that imparts skills for independent use of buses, trains, and similar means.

Applications can be submitted continuously and without time limitation. Funding prerequisites are Austrian citizenship or equivalence according to § 4 CGW, main residence or habitual residence in Vienna, as well as proof of recognized disability. To apply, the form "Application for Funding of Services," an official photo ID, proof of disability, and proof of citizenship must be submitted in copy. After review by multiprofessional experts, written approval and direct payment to service providers follow. A legal entitlement exists for day structure users; otherwise, granting is subject to considerations of economy, efficiency, and appropriateness. Billing must be carried out according to FSW guidelines, and all changes in personal data, residence, or health status must be reported immediately.
