Description

With the funding program Model Region Green Hydrogen 2021–2027, the state of Baden-Württemberg supports the establishment and demonstration of integrated hydrogen economies in spatially limited model regions. The goal is to build complete value chains from green production through storage and transport to application in industry, mobility, heating, and power supply. Additionally, non-investive measures for societal awareness are implemented, and independent scientific accompanying research is established, which systemically analyzes technological, ecological, economic, and social issues and identifies optimization potentials. The project duration is up to 84 months, with particular emphasis on sustainable continuation after project completion. Eligible for funding are especially universities, non-university research institutions, companies (especially SMEs), municipalities, associations, and foundations that collaborate in consortia and regulate their rights and obligations in a consortium agreement.

Funding is provided in sub-area A (demonstration projects) and sub-area B (accompanying research) with grants ranging from 40% up to a maximum of 100% of eligible expenses. Application documents include, among others, a project outline, overall project description, financing plan, work and schedule plan, as well as a detailed statement of expenditures. Approval certificates and, if applicable, the consortium agreement must be attached. Submission takes place in two stages by no later than February 2027 to the accepting authority L-Bank. Interested actors have the opportunity on specified deadlines to submit their projects for selection and formal application, thereby making an important contribution to the hydrogen transition in Baden-Württemberg.
