Description

MTZ®award
The MTZ®award honors outstanding scientific publications by young early-career researchers of the Medical Faculty at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf as well as associated research institutions in North Rhine-Westphalia. The focus is on work from human medicine-oriented cell and gene research that provides innovative methods or relevant findings for diagnostics, therapy, and prevention. The award aims to promote excellent early-career researchers by highlighting the scientific quality and the interdisciplinary connection between medicine and informatics. Eligible to participate are doctoral candidates and postdocs from HHU Düsseldorf, the Helmholtz Research Center Jülich, the German Diabetes Center (Leibniz Institute), and the Institute of Environmental Medicine Research who have submitted an outstanding publication.

The funding associated with the award includes financial support for follow-up and supplementary studies as well as internships abroad to support further career development. Evaluation criteria particularly include the publication’s level of innovation, interdisciplinarity, and its contribution to research in the fields of health, labor & social affairs, as well as science and innovation. Only the publication needs to be submitted to apply.
