MTZ® Sponsorship Award

The MTZ® Sponsorship Award of the MTZ® Foundation annually supports outstanding early-career researchers of the Medical Faculty at the University of Freiburg in the field of bioethics. The aim of this award is to recognize excellent scientific and dissertation achievements and to sustainably strengthen bioethical research in molecular medicine. A prize money ranging from €2,500 to €5,000 is awarded during the academic semester opening ceremony. The foundation, supported by Monika and Thomas Zimmermann, specifically promotes young researchers who engage with ethical questions in medical research and develop innovative solutions for future challenges.

Eligible to participate are researchers and doctoral candidates affiliated with the Medical Faculty of the University of Freiburg who have submitted an outstanding work in the field of bioethics. Selection is based on the criteria of scientific quality, relevance to bioethics in molecular medicine, and the innovativeness of the research. This award encourages researchers to open new perspectives in the ethical evaluation of medical procedures and to advance interdisciplinary dialogue between medicine, philosophy, and natural sciences. In this way, the MTZ® Sponsorship Award contributes to fostering the next generation of bioethical experts and setting innovative impulses for medical research.
