Description

In 2025, the Daheim im Viertel Foundation will award the Munich Neighborhood Prize for the second time, providing a total fund of €50,000 for outstanding neighborhood initiatives. Local initiatives, associations, informal groups, and individuals from Munich who are rooted in their district and committed to innovative concepts promoting cohesion, cultural diversity, or civic engagement will be recognized. A special focus is placed on projects that strengthen networking within the neighborhood, develop sustainable and creative solutions, and involve all age and population groups in neighborhood work. The jury evaluates submissions based on their relevance to the district, degree of innovation, sustainable impact, the nature of civic engagement, and the quality of involvement of all participants. The award is granted in the form of prize money, ranging from a first prize to two second prizes, three third prizes, as well as special and raffle prizes.

Eligible to apply are non-profit organizations, interest groups, associations, as well as private individuals with projects within the Munich city area. Required are a detailed project description, a comprehensive budget plan, proof of non-profit status, and CVs of the project leaders. After submission, a specialist jury reviews compliance with the funding criteria and selects the winners. The aim of the prize is to promote the positive development of Munich’s neighborhoods, make local engagement more visible, and provide sustainable impulses for a spirit of solidarity. Interested initiatives are invited to submit their ideas by the deadline and thus contribute to the revitalization of the district.
