Description
The Museion²¹͘ program of the Alfred Toepfer Foundation F.V.S. in Hamburg is aimed at committed museum staff with a university degree and at least three years of professional experience, to specifically prepare them for leadership roles in the museum sector. In four intensive modules at the Gut Siggen seminar center, professional content and personal development are combined. Experienced trainers as well as experts from museums, business, politics, and cultural promotion provide impulses on topics such as self-management, strategic management, finance, and conflict resolution. Through various learning formats – from reflection phases and theoretical inputs to practical scenarios – participants expand their leadership skills and professional network. The funding covers participation fees, accommodation, and full board; travel expenses are not included.
Applications require submission of a completed form, CV, letter of recommendation, motivation letter, a fictitious cover letter, and a free text on a museum-related topic. A binding commitment to participate in all four modules is a prerequisite. Selection is conducted through a three-stage process: formal review, written pre-selection, and digital interviews. Successful applications require German language skills at a professional presentation level and English skills for keynote presentations. Museion²¹͘ particularly aims to support emerging leaders up to approximately 45 years of age and places importance on diversity and inclusion among participants. Application deadlines and further details are announced on the Alfred Toepfer Foundation F.V.S. website.
