Description

The "Music – Promotion of Musical Events" program of the State of Salzburg supports non-profit associations, interest groups, and public institutions in the realization of festivals, concerts, and initiatives of various styles in the city and state of Salzburg. The goal is to secure diversity within the music sector and to promote innovative, contemporary approaches, such as world and premiere performances of living Austrian composers. Particular importance is given to creating performance opportunities for local artists, reaching new audience segments, and providing high-quality support for emerging talent to inspire young people for music and to bind them to cultural life in the long term. Service centers and interest groups with a thematic Salzburg focus that advance regional networking and develop sustainable event concepts are also supported.

Funded institutions can apply for annual programs or individual projects: For annual funding, the fully completed and signed application, including a detailed concept, financial plan, and proof of non-profit status (e.g., extract from the association register or statutes), must be submitted by June 30 of the respective year; project applications should be submitted well in advance of the project start. Eligible for funding are productions with an experimental approach, participatory formats, and a strong Salzburg connection beyond the event location. Purely commercial events, international tours, amateur projects, workshops, as well as individual funding for audio recordings and music videos are excluded. Selection is based on the degree of innovation, sustainability, and activating measures to attract audiences.
