Description
The North Hessian Music and History Foundation supports non-profit associations, public institutions, and interest groups in the city of Kassel as well as in the districts of Kassel-Land and Schwalm-Eder with its "Music and Dance Education" program. Funding is provided to amateur music and dance groups with at least five active musicians or dancers who have performed at least two public appearances in the previous year. The funding offer is aimed at both choral and instrumental ensembles as well as traditional costume groups, school orchestras, brass choirs, or similar formations that promote communal music-making and dancing. The goal is the financial support of training and further education, rehearsal leadership or conducting, as well as instrumental accompaniment by qualified professionals, in order to sustainably enrich cultural activities in North Hesse.
The grant is provided as a subsidy amounting to 10% of the documented expenses for fees – after deducting members' own contributions – with a minimum funding amount of €200 and a maximum of €500 per year. A prerequisite is proof of expenses in the preceding calendar year as well as the non-profit status or church recognition of the organization. Compensation of musicians is only permitted up to 10%. Funding requests can be submitted at any time: the fully completed application form, a brief half-page description of the group, the tax exemption certificate, and a list of expense receipts must be submitted by mail. The foundation usually acknowledges receipt of the documents within two weeks; a final decision may only be made in December. The transparent allocation ensures that North Hesse can continue to expand its cultural diversity through qualified instructors and committed groups.
