Music School Support

The municipal music school funding supports Styrian municipalities as operators of music schools through an annual cost reimbursement. The aim is to offset the financial expenses of the municipalities for operating their music school offerings in the respective school year in accordance with the funding guidelines of the State of Styria. The direct grant model increases planning security for education and training in the musical field and contributes to the sustainable strengthening of the regional educational landscape. With a projected duration of twelve months, the program continuously promotes access to qualified teaching offerings and thus ensures creative development opportunities for learners of all ages.

To receive the funding, municipalities must demonstrate that they already received support from the State of Styria in the 2018/19 school year and have concluded a processing agreement with the funding provider. Furthermore, a financial disadvantage due to the new funding model compared to the previous system is a prerequisite. The funding volume is reimbursed retroactively after submission and positive review of the documents, with a single annual application possible by July 31, 2037, at the latest. Municipal decision-makers benefit from the transparent allocation and clearly defined procedure, which sustainably strengthens regional music school locations and promotes the cultural diversity of Styria.
