Music School Support

The music school funding program of the State of Burgenland is aimed at low-income families whose children living in the same household attend a recognized music school in Burgenland and are entitled to family allowance. As a one-time grant, the program provides a reduction of music school fees ranging from 25% to 75%, scaled according to the monthly net household income. The goal is to support guardians in the care and musical education of their children and thereby promote equal opportunities in the areas of education, culture, and media in the long term. The funding is part of the social basic services of the Burgenland Social and Climate Fund and is awarded continuously, with the available funds accounted for in the respective state budget.

A funding application can be submitted each year from May 1 to September 15 for the upcoming school year; for the summer semester of the current year, a grace period from February 1 to 28 applies. Eligible applicants are natural persons with primary residence in Burgenland who have custodial responsibilities for eligible children. Proofs to be submitted include income documents such as notices of social assistance, maintenance payments, orphan’s pensions, or basic supply benefits – additional income data are automatically retrieved via the Transparency Portal. Once granted, the disbursement of funding amounts is made semi-annually directly to the music school or the billing office.
