Description

The sustainable media funding by the Media Authority Berlin-Brandenburg (mabb) strengthens the media landscape in Berlin and Brandenburg through targeted grants for projects in the areas of media diversity, media literacy, media education, and digitalization. With a diverse range of calls for proposals, its own events, and workshops, the program supports the development of innovative formats – from local journalism and audio offerings to digital experiments such as Freifunk initiatives. Special institutions like ALEX Berlin and the Media Innovation Center Babelsberg (MIZ) complement the funding activities with practice-oriented offerings: participants learn cross-media production methods here, network with professional media creators, and receive impulses for new audiovisual projects. This creates a dynamic ecosystem that sustainably expands media literacy in the region and makes creative ideas visible.

Eligible for funding are non-profit organizations, companies, start-ups, educational institutions, and private individuals based or active in Berlin or Brandenburg. The program is aimed at media professionals, students, start-ups, and interested citizens who wish to independently realize media projects, local TV and radio formats, or digital offerings. Applications can be submitted on an ongoing basis, allowing flexible project planning. The mabb grants project-related subsidies to finance innovative approaches and establish sustainable structures. Through the open call structure and the support of established network platforms, sustainable media funding offers diverse opportunities to actively shape the media landscape in the capital region and realize forward-looking ideas.
