Promotion of Young Talent by the Thuringian Sports Aid Foundation

The Nachwuchsförderung (Youth Development Program) of the Thüringer Sporthilfe Foundation is aimed at talented youth and junior athletes from Thuringia who have already achieved national or international success in Olympic or Paralympic disciplines. A prerequisite for performance-based funding is at least a third-place finish at the German Youth or Junior Championships or participation in a Junior World or European Championship. Among the approximately 3,900 supported athletes are numerous medalists and future Olympic champions whose careers have been decisively supported through financial assistance. With a funding volume of more than €1.7 million to date, the Foundation makes a sustainable contribution to the development of youth and elite sports in Thuringia.

The funds are granted as an annual subsidy and serve to partially compensate expenses incurred by young athletes, their parents, and the supporting clubs. The awards are made once a year during a ceremonial recognition event, separated by summer and winter sports. Applications can be submitted annually, ensuring continuous support for promising talents. The Thüringer Sporthilfe Foundation acts as a complementary funding institution within the state funding system and supports the path of talented young athletes to the international elite.
