Description

The funding is aimed at public-law entities in Brandenburg and supports projects for the near-natural development of water bodies in rural areas. The focus is on environmentally compatible management of water management infrastructure and the implementation of the objectives of the EU Water Framework Directive as well as the Water Resources Act. Planning and investment costs of architects and engineers, technical and nature conservation services, measures for the revitalization of flowing waters and the improvement of connectivity, the rehabilitation of still waters including desilting and water development areas, as well as monitoring investigations are eligible for funding. Expenses for land acquisition (up to 10% of the eligible total costs), notary and court fees, procurement procedures, and the applicable value-added tax can also be considered. The funding amount covers up to 100% of the reimbursable expenses, with a maximum of 8 million euros per project.

Potential applicants include, in particular, the State Office for the Environment (LfU) and the responsible water maintenance associations of the state of Brandenburg. A prerequisite is implementation within the ELER funding area framework, the consent of the landowners or proof of a usage right, as well as proof of public-law authorization. Evaluation criteria include contribution to the implementation of the EU WFD, ecological effectiveness, sustainability aspects, and priority according to water management objectives. Not eligible for funding are, among others, administrative buildings, vehicles and equipment, ongoing maintenance costs, institutional grants, land acquisition of agriculturally used areas for flood retention basins, flood protection for new settlements, land speculation, and court or attorney fees in lawsuits against the state of Brandenburg. Currently, there are no application opportunities; future deadlines will be announced by the Investment Bank of the State of Brandenburg.
