Funding objective

The goal is to redesign industrial jobs through AI-supported human-machine interactions to enhance flexibility, inclusion, well-being, upskilling, and knowledge transfer. At the same time, the competitiveness and sustainability of the European manufacturing industry are to be increased by formalizing knowledge and adapting machines to different workforces and markets.

Description

The Horizon Europe call "New approaches for Human/AI collaboration for the workforce of the future (RIA)" funds consortia across the EU consisting of companies, educational institutions, non-profit organizations, public bodies, and start-ups. In a two-stage procedure (deadlines: 22/09/2026, Stage 1 by 02/02/2027, Stage 2 by 02/09/2027, each at 5 p.m. Brussels time), research and innovation projects are selected that develop innovative AI solutions for human-machine collaboration in manufacturing and validate them in at least two application fields in Europe. The objective is to redesign industrial workplaces to enhance flexibility, inclusion, well-being, upskilling, and knowledge transfer. At the same time, the competitiveness and sustainability of the European manufacturing industry are to be increased through formalized knowledge models and adaptive machines. Eligible costs include personnel expenses, operating costs, travel expenses, and subcontracting services with a project duration of 36 months; excluded are end products beyond test series, retrospective costs, and real estate acquisitions.

Funding of up to €6 million per project is available (RIA funding rate 100%). The evaluation is conducted blindly based on innovation content, relevance to manufacturing, economic exploitation, quality of the consortium, as well as dissemination and exploitation plan. Requirements include a consortium with at least three independent partners from EU or associated countries and a coordinator based in one of these countries. Applicants must submit a Part A form and a Part B PDF detailing the project content along with the financial plan, salary tables, CVs of key personnel, and declarations on Open Science and Gender.
