Description

The “Journalism Partnerships – Collaborations” program supports innovative collaborations across the EU between news media of all sizes with the aim of strengthening the economic sustainability and resilience of journalism in Europe. Consortia of media organizations, journalist networks, and other actors in news production are supported to jointly develop new business, publishing, and production models. Priority is given to projects targeting systemic changes in the sector – for example, through testing shared technology solutions, building syndication networks, or introducing uniform editorial standards. Special attention is paid to methods for diversifying revenue streams, expanding community-building approaches, and increasing the efficiency and quality of journalistic content. Environmentally sustainable concepts and measures to reduce the ecological footprint complete the profile of the supported initiatives.

Eligible entities include companies, non-profit organizations, public and educational institutions with legal personality in at least one EU Member State, registered in the EU Participant Register (PIC), and signing the declaration on standards and independence. Grants are awarded as lump sums, flat rates, or unit costs based on actual expenses. Applicant consortia must submit the complete application (Parts A, B, and C), a financial plan, and the signed declaration on standards and independence. The submission deadline is 4 February 2026 at 17:00 (Brussels time). With a total budget of EUR 6.9 million, the initiative offers a unique opportunity to establish cross-border journalistic partnerships and shape the future viability of the European news market.
