Description
In Lower Austria, the state supports parent-organized parent-child centers that offer families with babies and toddlers a low-threshold meeting place. The goal is to provide information and parent education through a broad range of offerings, to strengthen parental competencies, and to enable mutual exchange of experiences. If needed, short-term childcare is additionally offered. Up to €3,500 per year is available for necessary investments, infrastructural improvements, as well as ongoing operating costs. The funding is divided into a one-time start-up grant in the first year of operation and a recurring basic grant, with no overall volume limit and applications possible at any time.
Eligible entities under the funding guidelines are exclusively non-profit organizations, such as associations, that operate parent-organized centers in accordance with the Lower Austria Family Act. Approval requires a verifiable non-profit purpose, compliance with spatial and hygienic standards, maintenance of visitor records, and exclusion of competition with existing mother studios. Furthermore, the center must utilize all available support services in its catchment area and detail its activities in a financing and program plan. An informal, written application including the application form and comprehensive documentation of the planned services forms the basis for submitting the application to the Finance Department of the State of Lower Austria.
