Description

The funding program of the Fisheries District Association III within the framework of the Lower Austrian Fisheries Act 2001 supports measures for the preservation, protection, and restoration of a waterbody-typical and species-rich population of aquatic animals in Lower Austria. Applicants – ranging from private individuals to non-profit organizations, companies, public institutions, interest groups, or other associations – may submit projects in the fields of environmental/nature conservation, research & innovation, science, as well as energy efficiency & climate protection. Financing is provided as a project-related grant with a funding rate of 2.5 to 75 percent and is intended to serve as an incentive for initiatives that would not be realized without financial support. The allocation of funds is based on the significance and likelihood of success of the project, the proportionality of effort and benefit, the extent of the applicant’s own contribution, and the availability of the FRV III budget funds.

Applications must be submitted in duplicate to the Fisheries District Association III prior to the start of the project and must include all required documents: water rights permit, site plan, project plan with objectives and timeline, detailed construction description, as well as financing and cost plan including cost estimates and photographic documentation. Eligible expenses include, among others, construction, planning, and construction supervision costs, expert reports, one-time land acquisition fees, and demolition costs; indirect costs such as taxes, fees, court or notary costs, as well as expenses incurred before the application submission are not eligible. The submission deadline is open-ended, allowing for continuous project applications. The final decision is made by an evaluating committee based on formal and substantive criteria, thereby sustainably promoting exemplary and forward-looking water ecology and species protection projects in Lower Austria.
