Description
The funding measure of the City of Graz supports district council members without the function of district chairperson or deputy by reimbursing the cheapest non-transferable annual ticket for the traffic zone 101 (Greater Graz area). The aim is to promote sustainable mobility in public transport and to make everyday administrative work climate-friendly. The grant is provided as a flat-rate expense reimbursement in the form of a subsidy amounting to 100% of the purchase price, limited to the most affordable offer within the integrated tariff system. The funding period is 12 months and starts with the beginning of the term of office in the district council. If the annual ticket starts before the official swearing-in, the reimbursable amount will be calculated pro rata from the date of swearing-in. After the end of the term of office or upon assuming a chairperson function, a pro rata repayment to the City of Graz is required.
Interested district council members submit an informal application together with proof of the purchased annual ticket. Applications can be submitted at any time from the start of the term of office and are made electronically via the municipal e-government form. There is no separate budget ceiling, as the funding volume is provided according to demand. Performance checks are carried out automatically via electronic registers, while accounting is based on the General Funding Guidelines of the City of Graz. This funding measure facilitates climate-friendly participation in the political body on the one hand and contributes to reducing individual traffic and CO₂ emissions on the other. Further information on the application process can be found on the City of Graz portal.
