Funding objective
Within the framework of the Electricity Industry and Organization Act and the Renewable Expansion Act, the Styrian Eco Fund supports innovative projects for the provision of electricity from renewable energy sources and for increasing energy efficiency.

Description
The Eco Fund supports innovative green electricity installations in Styria and significantly contributes to increasing energy efficiency and expanding renewable electricity generation within the framework of the Electricity and Renewable Expansion Act. Funding is provided to private individuals, companies, cooperatives, public institutions, interest groups, and associations. The focus is on energy efficiency, climate protection, and the expansion of renewable technologies. Thanks to ongoing calls for proposals, projects can be submitted at any time and are evaluated according to transparent, non-discriminatory criteria. Key evaluation criteria include completeness, plausibility, degree of innovation, emission reduction, and the practical feasibility of the submitted concepts. It is a central component of the Climate and Energy Strategy Styria 2030 and strengthens the region’s innovative capacity as well as its competitiveness.
The funding is provided as a non-repayable grant and covers up to 100% of eligible investment costs. Micro and small enterprises particularly benefit from this attractive financing instrument, as there is no budget volume limitation. Eligible expenses include new installations for electricity generation from renewable energy sources, measures to increase energy efficiency, as well as studies, concepts, and marketing. Ineligible are, for example, research facilities, discounts and rebates, value-added tax in case of input tax deduction entitlement, and used plant components. A prerequisite for funding is the submission of a project within public calls for proposals in compliance with the state guidelines. Selection is made through a jury process based on defined criteria. For the application, a project description, technical description, cost presentation, economic viability calculation, emission balance, and bank details must be submitted. Ongoing submissions have been possible at any time since 01.01.2020.
