Description
The Upper Austria Childcare Bonus is aimed at parents or a parent in Upper Austria who care for their child at home from the age of three until the mandatory kindergarten year and do not use the free childcare offer (nursery or kindergarten) until 1:00 p.m. The subsidy is granted as an annual allowance of up to €960 (€80 monthly, from 01.01.2023; previously €900 annually) to financially support the decision for home care. The payment is made in two installments: the first part is transferred after submitting the application, the second part upon confirmation of the actual kindergarten start. The bonus can be applied for from the completed 3rd year of life and is retroactively valid for a maximum of one year.
Eligible are EU residents living in a shared household with their child who do not use any childcare facility until 1:00 p.m. Applications can be submitted at any time without limitation. For the application, a completed application form, the child’s birth certificate, proof of residence, information on the expected start of the mandatory kindergarten year, and confirmation of kindergarten entry are required. There are no income limits; the subsidy is free of charge and is administered by the Family Department of the Upper Austria State Government. With this bonus, parents receive clear financial relief when they consciously choose to care for their child at home during the early years of life.
