Victim Support / Coverage of Costs for Legal Advice and Legal Representation

The DAV Foundation Against Right-Wing Extremism and Violence supports needy private individuals nationwide who have become victims of right-wing extremist or politically motivated acts of violence by covering the costs of legal advice and representation. With a 100% funding rate, the foundation covers both advisory and representation services (in particular co-plaintiff representation), thereby ensuring that legal assistance is provided promptly and unbureaucratically in acute psychological distress situations. The funding is provided in the form of a grant and follows the rules of the legal aid procedure (PKH). An individual assessment by the board guarantees professionally sound decisions and tailored support.

The target group consists of victims of politically motivated violence who, due to their financial situation, cannot afford legal advice themselves. Applications can be submitted informally by the affected individuals themselves, their lawyers, or victim support centers. Required are a concise statement of facts and proof of need according to PKH criteria. Since applications can be submitted at any time, the foundation continuously opens access to rapid legal assistance. The broad funding scope is rooted in social commitment to social cohesion and democracy as well as in the fields of labor & social affairs. The initiative thus makes an important contribution to victim protection and the strengthening of the rule of law principles in Germany.
