Description
Outstanding Artist Award has been honoring outstanding artistic achievements of the younger and middle generations in the fields of culture and media in Vienna since 2010. The award is predominantly granted annually with an endowment of €10,000; in selected categories (caricature & comics, experimental tendencies in architecture, experimental design, children’s and youth literature), the award is presented biennially. Independent expert juries evaluate a significant body of work whose artistic contributions are of supraregional importance. Through continuous support, the embedding of contemporary art in society as well as stable framework conditions for artistic practice are strengthened.
Private individuals with Austrian citizenship or permanent residence in Austria may submit an application to the Section for Art and Culture. A personal contribution is required depending on economic capacity. Fundable projects are those that could not be realized fully or at all without this award. When applying, information on funds already applied for or granted from other funding bodies in accordance with the Art Funding Act must be provided. Interested artists of the younger and middle generations whose work has supraregional relevance will find in this award an attractive recognition and financial support to further develop and make their activities visible.
