The Outstanding Artist Award honors outstanding artistic achievements by members of the younger and middle generations across Austria in various disciplines. As an award within the framework of national cultural funding, the prize is endowed with €10,000 and is granted annually, with a biennial awarding practice applying in the fields of caricature and comics, experimental tendencies in architecture, experimental design, as well as children’s and youth literature. This award highlights and supports excellent positions in the fields of visual arts, music, literature, architecture, design, media art, and other disciplines.
Eligible to participate are all private individuals active in the aforementioned cultural and media sectors who can already demonstrate impressive works or projects. The award aims to sustainably anchor contemporary art within society, thereby contributing to the strengthening of creative freedom. By recognizing outstanding artists, it reinforces the cultural identity of the younger generation and provides impetus for the public perception and further development of diverse art forms.
