Description

The Tyrolean Patient Compensation Fund continuously provides financial grants to compensate for treatment-related damages in Tyrolean fund hospitals. Private individuals who have suffered infections, complications, or other health impairments in the context of inpatient or outpatient services, and for whom liability of the provider is not clearly established, may submit an application at any time. The fund was established by the state law of July 4, 2001 (LGBl. No. 71/2001) and is financed by patient contributions per care day in accordance with the Tyrolean Hospital Act. A three-member compensation commission, supported by the Tyrolean Patient Representation as the compensation officer, convenes to review and decide on the applications.

For application submission, treatment documents such as medical reports, expert opinions, or findings, as well as the official TPF application form, must be provided. A documented damage resulting from treatment in a Tyrolean fund hospital and compliance with the specific guidelines for compensation benefits are prerequisites. There is no deadline limitation: applications can be submitted at any time since the cut-off date of September 12, 2001. The program strengthens social welfare in the fields of health, labor & social affairs and offers patients an uncomplicated means to compensate for incurred damages. Interested parties can find further information and the necessary forms on the pages of the Tyrolean Patient Representation.
