Personal Budget for People with Disabilities in Styria

The Personal Budget supports individuals with sensory and/or significant mobility impairments who have their main residence in Styria in realizing a self-determined life outside of residential facilities. This service, based on § 22a StBHG, promotes individually tailored care and assistance services, taking into account care-related monetary benefits. The budget is available to private applicants from the European Economic Area, Switzerland, or those with the corresponding residence permit, as well as recognized refugees or beneficiaries of subsidiary protection. The funding instrument aims to reduce barriers in everyday life and enable social participation by flexibly organizing personal support services.

Funding Framework and Application Procedures

Applications can be submitted at any time from 01.01.2026 onwards; approval is granted as an unlimited grant. A prerequisite for the allocation of the budget, in addition to citizenship or residence permit, is a permanent physical, intellectual, psychological, or sensory impairment that leads to significant disadvantage in social participation. To submit an application, the form “Application for Assistance under the Styrian Disability Act” must be completed at the responsible district administrative authority. The funding process is managed by Department 11 Social Affairs, Labor and Integration of the Office of the Styrian Provincial Government. Through continuous allocation, this funding offer sustainably contributes to strengthening self-determination and quality of life for people with disabilities.
