Description
The city of Graz in Styria promotes the temporary use of vacant ground-floor spaces as pop-up stores with a non-repayable grant of up to 75% of the eligible costs, up to a maximum of €3,000. The program supports projects with a minimum duration of four weeks and offers the opportunity to test innovative and sustainable business ideas under real market conditions. The goal is to reduce street-level vacancies in the core areas of the city, strengthen regionally anchored concepts, and promote a lively urban atmosphere through the event character of the pop-up stores. Projects are evaluated based on the criteria of innovation, sustainability, economic viability, regionality, and strengthening of the streetscape.
Eligible applicants include private individuals, companies, start-ups, and non-profit organizations that have concluded a valid usage agreement with the property owners. Eligible costs include usage fees, operating costs, and design costs; own contributions, cost of goods, and expenses for tax or legal advice are excluded. Applications can be submitted at any time – no later than before the opening of the pop-up usage – subject to available budget funds (starting 16.02.2023). The funding application must include a signed form, a detailed project description, and the usage agreement. The project duration is set at one month to enable founders and initiatives an efficient and low-risk testing phase and to sustainably revitalize the city center.
