Description
The pop music event subsidy of the City of Munich is aimed at private individuals and non-institutionally funded organizers residing or primarily working in Munich. Funding is provided for single concerts, concert series, and festivals of all pop music genres—especially programs outside the mainstream that significantly involve Munich artists and ensure a gender-equitable share. Grants between €1,500 and €5,000 can be applied for per application, with a total funding amount of €45,000 available in 2026. Submissions are possible by the following deadlines: March 27, 2026 (for projects May–October 2026), July 18, 2026 (for projects September–December 2026), and November 16, 2026 (for projects January–May 2027), each by 11:59 p.m. Awards are made by the Department of Culture through an administrative procedure, supported by the Pop Division of Feierwerk.
Eligible applicants include musicians, cultural associations, collectives, DJs, and professional organizers planning events in smaller music venues, off-locations, or open-air areas (maximum 1,500 visitors per day). The largest room must not exceed a capacity of 800 persons. Evaluation criteria include creative concepts, program content outside the mainstream, involvement of local artists, and gender-equitable participation. To apply, the following documents must be submitted in a PDF (max. 5 MB): completed form, detailed project description with links to artists, cost and financing plan, biographical information about the organizing institution or organizers, justification of the FINTA* share, accessibility measures, and planned promotional activities. After the event, proof of use including a factual report must be submitted. Compliance with formal requirements and deadlines is mandatory for consideration.
