Description
With the one-year Postdoc Plus fellowship, the Claussen-Simon Foundation supports outstanding early-career researchers who have recently completed their doctorate and wish to carry out an independent research project at a university or college in Hamburg. The grant, amounting to €1,750 per month plus an additional child allowance, covers living expenses and provides the recipients with an initial orientation phase. Within twelve months, research concepts can be further developed, new topics explored, and initial third-party funding acquired. In addition to financial support, the program offers non-material benefits such as professional networking, external workshops, and mentoring by chair holders.
Applications are accepted at any time and are aimed at doctoral graduates from all disciplines who wish to establish their academic career through a structured qualification phase – for example, habilitation or junior professorship. The standardized selection process ensures a prompt decision and flexible start-up funding. The support is provided at 100% and lasts for twelve months. The Claussen-Simon Foundation accompanies the fellows throughout the entire funding period with subject-specific training measures and workshops, thereby supporting the establishment of young researchers within Hamburg’s academic community.
