Description
The Peter and Traudl Engelhorn Foundation awards generous grants within the framework of the "Postdoc Fellowships 2027" to strengthen early-career researchers in the life sciences. Eligible applicants are outstanding individuals who, following an above-average completion of their studies and doctorate in natural sciences, pharmacy, or medicine, wish to conduct research at recognized institutes in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland. The fellowships are granted for a maximum duration of 24 months and are aligned in amount with the tariff guidelines TV-L E13 or TVöD E13 in Germany, as well as the corresponding funding regulations in Austria and Switzerland. Overhead costs are excluded, while personnel expenses are covered within the scope of the fellowship. The foundation decides on the award at its own discretion, with academic achievements as well as the relevance and quality of the research project serving as central evaluation criteria.
Interested postdoctoral researchers may submit their documents by July 15, 2026, 24:00 hours. A prerequisite is that the start of the doctoral work is no longer than nine years ago and its completion no longer than four years ago (maternity leave and parental leave are each considered up to one year per child). The application must include: a completed data sheet, a motivation letter (max. 1 page), a description of the research project (max. 6 pages), a tabular CV, certificates (Bachelor, Master, PhD), a current list of publications, at least two letters of recommendation from recognized scientists, as well as a commitment from the host institution. The foundation places great importance on the confidential handling of all data and informs applicants of the selection decision by October 1 at the latest.
