Description
The Practitioner Programme of the Max Weber Foundation offers an exclusive nationwide fellowship for employees in the fields of science management, public relations, library services, digital humanities, editorial work, IT, and administration. During internships of up to four weeks at renowned scientific or cultural institutions in Germany and abroad, participants gain practical experience and insights into the daily work of their host organization. Through the targeted exchange of best-practice models, the initiation of joint cooperative projects, and deliberate networking, international partnerships are strengthened and processes within the participants’ own institutions are further developed. Thus, the programme supports both institutional networking and the personal qualification of staff members.
Eligible to apply are all permanently employed individuals of the Foundation with multi-year contracts (scholars and interns are excluded). Funded are verified travel expenses up to €2,000, accommodation costs and daily allowances according to BRKG, as well as a family allowance of up to €500 (or reimbursement of proven additional costs up to €2,000). Evaluation criteria include the relevance of the project for the applicant’s own workplace, the contribution to network building through cooperative projects, and the optimization of administrative and management processes. Applications must include a letter of motivation (max. two pages), a statement from the applicant’s institution, a commitment letter from the host institution, and – if applying for the family allowance – proof of existing caregiving responsibilities. The application deadline is July 8, 2026, and the programme start is possible from October 1, 2026.
