Description
The Sigmund Freud Institute in Frankfurt am Main offers students of psychology, social and educational sciences, as well as related disciplines, the opportunity to gain valuable insights into psychoanalytic practice and research through a six-month (research) internship. The unpaid internships can be recognized as mandatory or elective internships and take place in the outpatient clinic, the specialized library, and current research projects – including psychosocial care for refugees and studies on destructiveness in contemporary authoritarianism. Flexible part-time models (10–20 hours per week) allow for tailored participation in conferences, diagnostics and case discussions, as well as library and administrative tasks. A fixed presence time in the outpatient clinic (Thursday 8:30–10:30 a.m.) is complemented by individually agreed hours to optimally accommodate academic commitments.
Applications require a letter of motivation, a tabular CV, a current certificate of enrollment, and relevant transcripts. The Hessian Foundation Sigmund Freud Institute promotes equal opportunities and diversity; applications are accepted year-round. Interns receive professional supervision from experienced researchers and can use anonymized data for theses under guidance, participate in internationally oriented conferences, or be integrated into multiprofessional teams. Through close cooperation with the universities of Frankfurt and Kassel as well as various non-university partner institutions, interdisciplinary exchange is ensured, combining theoretical knowledge with practice-oriented research and contributing to the comprehensive further education of the next generation of specialists.
