Description

The Max Weber Foundation offers German students of the humanities and related disciplines practical insights into research, library work, and administration. At its nationwide institutes as well as at the Bonn headquarters, both mandatory and voluntary internships of up to three months are offered. Under the guidance of experienced mentors, participants assist research staff with investigations, publication projects, translations, and the preparation of lectures. Additionally, library internships provide the opportunity to conduct inventory revisions, maintain online databases, and compile bibliographies. Those interested in administration gain insights into event organization, public relations, and tasks within the departments of budget, personnel, and legal affairs, or in the area of “Perspectivia.net, libraries, and IT.” The internships promote professional qualification and strengthen networking with research institutions at home and abroad.

For a duration of up to three months, the Foundation grants a monthly allowance of €450, and DAAD-funded international internships are additionally covered by travel expense allowances. Prerequisites include enrollment at a German university, proof of valid health insurance, and for institute internships, a relevant bachelor’s degree. Applications are accepted continuously through the desired institute or the Bonn headquarters and require a letter of motivation, a CV, proof of enrollment, and – for DAAD funding – additional application documents. Through practical involvement, participants gain not only a profound insight into real working conditions but also a valuable enhancement of their own academic profile.
