Award for Civic Engagement (City of Preetz)

The city of Preetz annually honors outstanding civic engagement in Schleswig-Holstein and alternately awards prizes in the fields of environmental/nature conservation, culture, and social affairs. Private individuals, interest groups, and associations active in Preetz or whose activities have a connection to the city may be considered through nomination or self-application. The jury particularly recognizes meritorious achievements that promote social cohesion, strengthen democratic values, and simultaneously have a sustainable impact on environmental and climate protection, cultural and media projects, as well as social initiatives. A certificate and an attractive monetary award acknowledge the commitment and highlight exemplary activities. In the case of equally deserving contributions, the awarding committee reserves the right to share the prize.

Interested individuals and groups have the opportunity to continuously submit their projects or actions. The decision is based on the demonstrated connection to the city of Preetz, the merits achieved, and alignment with one of the three funding priorities. The award ceremony takes place as part of the annual city reception and provides the awardees with a public platform to present their work to a broad audience. In doing so, the award sustainably contributes to strengthening civic engagement in the region and setting new impulses for further projects.
