Description

The Horizon Europe Innovation Action “Preparing demonstration missions for Earth Observation and Satellite telecommunication for Space solutions (Space Partnership)” supports EU-wide consortia consisting of industrial companies (including SMEs and start-ups), research institutions, universities, and non-profit organizations in the development of digital technologies at TRL 7–8. The objective is to prepare and conduct end-to-end demonstration missions in the fields of Earth observation and satellite communication to strengthen the competitiveness of the European space sector. Eligible for funding are legal entities in EU Member States, Norway, or Iceland (excluding Chinese institutions) that utilize Copernicus and/or Galileo/EGNOS services. The funding amount per project ranges from €5 million to €10 million, with the application deadline on 3 September 2026, 17:00 (Brussels time). The call has been open since 10 March 2026.

Research and innovation are supported in applications such as secure SatCom services, modular radio frequency testbeds, LEO/VLEO EO systems with on-board processing, AI-supported payload technologies, as well as synergistic processes for multi-mission operations. Evaluation criteria include excellence, expected impact, and quality and efficiency of project implementation. Comprehensive demonstrators are intended to advance global, resilient, and responsive space solutions and contribute to the EU strategy “Globally Competitive Space Systems.” Submission requires a completed application form as well as a declaration on ownership and control. Project partners are encouraged to employ established EU technologies, collaborate synergistically, and rapidly transition to commercial application in the space market. This funding aims to realize innovative space solutions that consolidate Europe’s position in the global space competition.
