Description

In Carinthia, the state supports a diverse network of arthouse cinemas and film cultural institutions dedicated to the promotion of contemporary and classical film culture. Applicants who are legal entities from the fields of culture, media, and non-profit organizations may apply for project or annual funding in the form of grants at any time. The funding is primarily aimed at institutions responsible for a regular film program with a focus on European and Austrian film production. The funds can be used to cover personnel expenses, material costs, and other operating expenses – from technical staff to marketing, as well as mediation formats such as film discussions, media days, or thematically focused festival series.

Submitting institutions must demonstrate a clear connection to Carinthia and promote networking with filmmakers as well as the film cultural education sector. The evaluation focuses on the quality of the film program, achieved audience success, and innovative mediation formats. Funding requirements include submission before the project start, compliance with §§ 3–5 of the K-KFördG as well as the K-KFördRL, and a fully completed application including attachments. A duration of up to 12 months and transparent documentation of expenses ensure traceability. Department 14 – Arts and Culture of the Office of the Carinthian State Government provides advice on inquiries and publishes funding priorities annually. The cultural logo “Land Kärnten Kunst und Kultur” must be displayed in all communication media to indicate support from the state and to highlight the cultural diversity of Carinthia.
