Description
Program Line I "Group Encounters and International Exchange" of the West-Eastern Divan Foundation nationwide supports international dialogue projects that connect non-profit organizations, municipal institutions, and educational providers in Germany with partner institutions in one of the foundation’s 15 partner countries. The focus is on encounters usually lasting four to fourteen days to initiate new relationships, refresh previous cooperations, and strengthen long-term partnerships. Funding includes grants for international travel expenses and a program allowance within specified limits. Thematically, projects from the fields of social cohesion, democracy promotion, education, child and youth work, as well as vocational training and further education, are equally welcome. Emphasized are participatory exchange on an equal footing, joint planning and implementation of the program, and the development of a concrete outcome to be publicly presented. Public relations work and sustainable follow-up ensure the impact beyond the encounter.
Eligible for funding are non-profit organizations, public and municipal institutions, as well as educational providers based in Germany that implement projects in partnership with an institution in one of the partner countries. Key criteria for the decision include, among others, the equal participation of both partners, joint preparation and follow-up, a clearly defined outcome, and measures for long-term relationship maintenance. Applications can be submitted at any time. Required documents include the completed application form, copies of statutes and association registration, and a detailed financing and program schedule. The foundation also supports interested parties in application preparation and advises on funding conditions.
