Description
Program Line III "Special Projects" of the West-Eastern Divan Foundation selectively supports formats of encounters that particularly correspond to the Foundation’s statutory objectives and would otherwise not be feasible due to a lack of public funds and own contributions. Funding is provided for thematically outstanding cooperations between German associations, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, or public bodies and partners from Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus, Central Asia, or the Baltic States. The aim is to intensify the exchange of young people and adult participants in the fields of culture, education, and social cohesion, thereby sustainably strengthening democratic participation and understanding of other cultures. Funding is granted nationwide as a one-time subsidy and can be applied for continuously, provided that an individual cost and financing plan is submitted and the statutory funding priorities are particularly taken into account.
Eligible costs include international travel expenses, accommodation costs, program costs, material expenses, and small honoraria – excluded are honoraria for board members and employees of the applying institution. Eligible to apply are institutions established under German law with headquarters in Germany that conduct youth and cultural exchanges together with partners from the aforementioned regions. A prerequisite for a positive decision is an informally submitted project outline with an initial cost and financing plan, proof of non-profit status, a detailed expenditure and income plan, as well as copies of the statutes and registration excerpt. Applications can be submitted at any time and begin with an informal preliminary inquiry; after positive feedback, the complete application form must be submitted. The Foundation reviews compliance with its funding priorities, the financing needs, and the proportion of own funds.
