Description
The progr es.nrw program for Rational Energy Use, Renewable Energies, and Energy Saving in the Innovation program area supports innovative research and development projects in North Rhine-Westphalia that contribute to increasing energy efficiency and expanding renewable energies. Funding is provided to small and medium-sized enterprises, founders, start-ups, research institutions, universities, municipal as well as non-profit organizations. The goal is to promote technologies and processes that advance a climate-neutral economy and ensure the efficient use of resources. As a grant within the ERDF/Just Transition Fund program 2021–2027, the funding covers project-related personnel costs, material and equipment expenses, investments, as well as external service and consulting costs, while general administrative costs and retroactive expenses are excluded.
A prerequisite for application is a business location or headquarters in North Rhine-Westphalia as well as a clear project relevance to rational energy use, renewable energies, or energy saving. Selection is based on the degree of innovation, contribution to energy efficiency and climate protection, as well as the economic viability and feasibility of the projects. A comprehensive cost and financing plan, a meaningful project description, proof of ERDF eligibility, and CVs of the project managers must be submitted. Applications for funding can be submitted continuously until December 31, 2027. The Innovation Promotion Agency NRW (IN.NRW) accompanies the process from the call for proposals through evaluation and approval to disbursement and scientific monitoring of the funded projects.
