Description

The Josef Popper Duty to Support Foundation continuously funds research projects, scientific publications, and translations of writings by the humanist Josef Popper-Lynkeus in Hesse. Funding is provided not only to university and non-university educational institutions but also to non-profit organizations and individuals engaged with Popperian approaches to social security. In the focus areas of research & innovation, science, social affairs, education, work & social issues, as well as training and further education, the foundation offers one-time grants. Applications can be submitted continuously without a fixed deadline to support the purchase and dissemination of relevant publications, organize thematically appropriate workshops, and realize translation projects.

The funding program aims to address researchers and projects in the fields of poverty research, social policy, and basic income. Awarded research results or planned studies receive financial support to cover printing, honoraria, and event expenses. A prerequisite for funding is a well-founded scientific engagement with Popper’s ideas on social security, proof of the planned project, and a residence or activity in Germany. The foundation allocates funds following professional review by its board and encourages the further development of Popper’s “general duty to support” as a basis for social policy debates.
