The project and study funding of the Foundation for Mental Health supports non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and public entities nationwide that operate in the fields of science, education, as well as public health and healthcare. Funding is provided primarily for projects, conferences/congresses, and studies that contribute to the destigmatization of mental illnesses. Scientific initiatives may receive grants of up to €15,000, while funding of up to €5,000 is available for initiatives in other areas. A prerequisite for funding is the non-profit status of the applicants, proof of activity in the specified fields, and for larger projects, evidence of remaining financing. Expenses for living costs, aids, individual training and further education, crowdfunding activities, as well as direct funding of individuals are not eligible for support.
Applications can be submitted informally in German; the relevant deadlines are January 15 and July 15 each year. The application must include a detailed description of the project, a transparent cost breakdown, and the current corporate tax exemption certificate. Decisions on funding are made by an advisory board based on the submitted documents.
