Description

German Dementia Aid – DZNE Foundation for Brain and Health funds research projects nationwide at all locations of the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) through annual, thematic calls for proposals. In a transparent, competitive process, national and international reviewers assess the submitted applications and forward their recommendations to the Board of Trustees, which grants the final approvals. The aim is to strengthen basic research, clinical studies, healthcare and population research, as well as systems medicine in the context of neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia/Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS.

Eligible for funding are educational institutions, public institutions, and non-profit organizations with researchers affiliated with a DZNE location who independently plan projects on neurodegenerative diseases. A prerequisite for application is the timely submission of a complete project proposal in the respective thematic call. Funding decisions are based on criteria such as scientific quality, methodological rigor, and the expected benefit for dementia and neurodegeneration research. Multiple calls per year offer diverse opportunities to provide innovative projects with a solid financial foundation and to create long-term impetus for the research and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
