Description
The Bürgerstiftung Syke supports civic engagement in Lower Saxony through grants for non-profit projects in Syke and the surrounding area. Projects from the fields of education, social affairs, culture, vocational training, and work & social services are funded. The goal is to strengthen community life and promote sustainable urban development. Three levels of funding are applied: projects by external organizations, joint cooperations, and foundation-owned initiatives. A transparent selection process is conducted in coordination between the board and the foundation council, based on evaluation criteria such as model and exemplary character, degree of innovation, sustainability, and self-help. Excluded are cost-intensive personnel and ongoing expenses (only as start-up funding), commercial events, fundraising activities, as well as projects outside the Syke city area.
Eligible to apply are associations, interest groups, non-profit organizations, companies, and in individual cases private persons whose project ideas provide a direct added value for Syke. A prerequisite is the implementation of the project on-site, compliance with the foundation’s purpose, and timely submission via the prescribed form. The application must include a detailed project description, a comprehensive cost breakdown, if applicable cooperation agreements, as well as a self-presentation of the applicant. The submission deadline is announced by the board each time. This funding opportunity supports local initiatives that jointly shape Syke and open up perspectives for all citizens.
