Description

The project funding of the German Foundation for Sick Newborns (DSKN) is aimed nationwide at public institutions, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, as well as private individuals who wish to develop innovative approaches for the medical care and nursing of premature and sick newborns. In the fields of health, social affairs, research & innovation, science, education & training, as well as work & social affairs, the DSKN continuously offers grants through a two-stage process: initially, a project outline (maximum two pages, in German or English) is submitted, based on which an invitation to prepare a detailed funding application is issued. The funding objective is to optimize existing care models and strengthen family support immediately after birth.

For successful funding, the project idea and objectives must be presented in a comprehensible manner, with the degree of innovation of the proposed solution as well as its economic and technical feasibility being central evaluation criteria. Essential documents include the project outline, the information sheet for preparing the outline, and – upon request – the detailed funding application. Since submissions are possible at any time, project sponsors can flexibly submit their initiatives to improve the care of sick newborns and their families, thereby making a valuable contribution to the advancement of neonatology.
