Project Funding by the Edgar Bähr Foundation

Each year, the Edgar Bähr Foundation supports one major and several smaller social projects in Saarland that promote appreciation and cohesion in accordance with the founder’s intentions. The grant supports initiatives in the fields of social affairs, labor & social services, as well as agriculture & rural development, which create a tangible added value in the regional environment of Saarland. The selection of projects is made by the board, which determines the respective projects based on the availability of funds and their positive impact on the community. The focus is not on the amount of funding, but rather on the goal of recognizing people as valuable parts of the social fabric and sustainably honoring their commitment.

Funding is provided to non-profit organizations, private individuals, interest groups, associations, and companies that can demonstrate a registered office or activity in Saarland. There is no formal deadline for applications, as projects are continuously reviewed and decided upon. A key decision criterion is the board’s assessment of which projects most strongly promote regional cohesion and solidarity. Potential applicants thus have the opportunity to propose their projects flexibly and be informed promptly about a grant. In doing so, the foundation makes a valuable contribution to strengthening local initiatives and promoting activities oriented toward the common good in Saarland.
