Description

The Herbert Funke Foundation supports visually impaired and blind individuals in need nationwide, as well as non-profit organizations, with project-related grants. The focus of the funding is on individual aids that contribute to improving quality of life, as well as thematically appropriate projects in the areas of social affairs, health, work & social services. Funding applications can be submitted continuously and informally but must be received at least four weeks before the project start date. The foundation places great importance on ensuring that the proposed projects align with the foundation’s objectives and that both urgency and need are plausibly demonstrated.

For a complete application, a completed questionnaire, proof of income, a current ophthalmological certificate (not older than three months), a detailed cost and financing plan, project description and schedule, as well as information on any concurrently submitted applications, are required. Eligible expenses include aids for visually impaired and blind persons as well as project-related costs according to cost estimates. Retroactive costs, payments to private accounts, and disability-adapted passenger cars are not funded. The decision on the grant is usually made within four weeks after receipt of all documents. For long-term projects, interim and final reports must be submitted. These transparent processes ensure that funds are used purposefully and efficiently in accordance with the foundation’s intentions.
