Description

The Hoppmann Foundation Democracy in Everyday Life supports projects of non-profit organizations, interest groups, and associations nationwide and within the EU that are committed to political education and social cohesion. Funding is provided especially for initiatives that strengthen the democratic participation of children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Regional initiatives in the Siegerland region are as much in focus as national and international engagements of small associations. Priorities include educational offerings, training and further education, development cooperation, rural development, as well as social and labor market-related measures. Furthermore, the foundation supports agricultural projects that, together with young people in rural areas, link democratic structures and sustainable development.

Applications can be submitted at any time, as the foundation continuously awards grants in the form of subsidies. A prerequisite is alignment with the statutory purposes: projects must promote democratic competence and have a clear focus on socially disadvantaged children and young people. Preference is given to civic-driven concepts of small initiatives based in Siegerland or with national or international significance. The decision criteria include content alignment with the funding objectives, the extent of engagement, and the regional or supra-regional impact. The application file must include a fully completed application form, project description, objectives and target group analysis, cost and financing plan, as well as bank details. Interested associations and initiatives can find further information about the procedure on the website and can submit their project ideas directly.
