Description

The Moses Mendelssohn Foundation supports non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and public bodies throughout Germany in the realization of exhibition, research, and publication projects as well as international scientific conferences and cultural events. The focus is on projects related to European/German-Jewish history and culture that promote enlightenment, reason, and tolerance, and strengthen intercultural dialogue. Initiatives that contribute to the exploration of this historical heritage, advance monument preservation measures, or develop innovative formats for conveying Jewish culture are funded.

Funding requests and unsolicited applications may be submitted on an ongoing basis; nationwide project submissions are possible at any time by mail. A prerequisite is the non-profit or public status of the applying institution as well as a clear project connection to German-European Jewish themes. As a grant provider, the Foundation places particular emphasis on scientific quality and didactic effectiveness as well as on sustainable impact in social cohesion. Program allocation is carried out within the framework of the Foundation’s mandate, which, in addition to educational and research projects, also includes measures for international understanding, the preservation of architectural monuments, and cultural infrastructure. Interested project partners thereby receive a solid financial foundation to carry forward the spirit of enlightenment in the sense of Moses Mendelssohn in science and culture.
