Description

The Rudolf Vogel Foundation supports outstanding geoscientific and mining research aimed at the exploration and utilization of mineral deposits. Nationwide, it funds both individuals and educational institutions with non-profit status that conduct research or teaching in these fields. From the income generated by the foundation’s capital, awards are granted for excellent dissertations, diploma theses, as well as study and project papers. Financial grants are also provided for scientific collaborations with domestic and international universities, as well as for needy research and teaching projects. The selection of projects worthy of funding is carried out by a board of trustees, which evaluates the applications based on their scientific quality and relevance following a thorough review.

Eligible to apply are all members of TU Clausthal who study, teach, or conduct research in the field of geosciences and mining. A positive report from the supervising professor(s) is mandatory for every application for the Rudolf Vogel Prize for outstanding academic work. For projects and research endeavors, an informal funding application suffices, optionally using the provided application form. Key criteria for the grant are the quality of the scientific work, the assessment by the supervising professor(s), and the significance of the project for the exploration and utilization of mineral deposits. All documents must be submitted to the chairman of the foundation by the deadline. Funding is granted as a non-repayable subsidy and offers the participants the opportunity to further develop their innovative research activities within a high-caliber scientific environment.
